Event Description:
Join us for the first official event hosted by HORTA – the Horticulture Alliance at WSU! 🌿
Erik Zavala, Fieldman Manager at Blue Bird Orchards and a trusted voice in Washington’s tree fruit industry, returns to Pullman for a student-led mini field day and orchard walk at the WSU Horticulture Center.
Whether you’re interested in orchard management, ag career paths, or just want to get outside and learn something new, this is a great chance to hear firsthand from a professional who bridges science and industry.
Topics will include:
Open to all students, faculty, and community members—no experience required.
Bonus: Students from the Horticulture Alliance will also be onsite grafting trees for the Historic Apples of Whitman County collection in partnership with the Lost Apple Project.
How to Find Us:
After turning onto the gravel road, stay right and follow the signs to the Horticulture Center—we’re the red building at the top of the hill (Building 400A).
